The
Stadium, Leeds
Firstly apologies to all those fans who turned up at the Stadium in Leeds
on Friday evening to find the doors locked.
There is genuine confusion as to
why the mix up. At first the venue advertised (on their
website) that they had a PA. We then got a phone call at 3pm the day
of the gig to say that they did not have one and that the PA that they
had been hiring for previous gigs had been returned. So as not to disappoint
fans the sound engineer for the night (James Lidgett) frantically phoned
round companies in Leeds to try and get hold of a last minute PA system.
To no avail.
However, we managed to get hold of another PA (our own). We informed
the promoter who then agreed that the night would go ahead, however
he could not get in touch with the venue owner, trying all night to
inform him.
So, as the night progressed the bands turned up with all their gear,
one band had even traveled all the way from Ireland in the early hours
of the morning just to play that one gig. A large crowd started gathering
outside, but still no sign of the venue owner with the keys.
Eventually
we called it a night. Some of the bands managed to get a slot at The
Primrose to compensate for the night (the Irish band was one,
so it was not an entirely wasted journey for them). However
we decided to spend some quality time with the people who had traveled
out to
see us. So despite the best efforts of the bands to get
the show up and running, in the end it all came to nothing as they
couldn't gain access to the venue. So once again, apologies to all
you that
made the effort and for your support and also to sound engineer James
for his frantic efforts - it's much appreciated. Hopefully we'll
see
you at the Royal Park Cellars for an OXJAM gig
on the 27
October...
